Position Overview:

We are looking for a talented and detail-oriented Picture Editor to join our post-production team. The Picture Editor will be responsible for assembling raw footage into a polished final product, ensuring that the narrative, pacing, and visual elements align with the director’s vision. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a creative eye, and the ability to work efficiently with their own editing equipment, including a desktop computer or laptop and the latest editing software. The role also requires adaptability for on-site edits during production.

Key Responsibilities:

Editing and Assembly:

  • Review and organize raw footage, selecting the best takes and assembling scenes according to the script and director’s vision.
  • Edit video sequences, incorporating sound, visual effects, and transitions to create a cohesive and engaging final product.
  • Ensure that all edits meet the project’s creative and technical standards, maintaining continuity and narrative flow.

Post-Production Tasks:

  • Collaborate with the director, producers, and other team members to understand and execute the desired visual style and story.
  • Integrate audio elements, including dialogue, music, and sound effects, to enhance the overall viewing experience.
  • Perform color correction, color grading, and other visual enhancements to achieve the desired look and feel of the project.

Equipment and Software Management:

  • Utilize personal editing equipment, including a desktop computer or laptop with the latest editing software, to complete projects efficiently.
  • Maintain and update editing software and tools to stay current with industry standards and technological advancements.
  • Use a portable editing station when required for on-site edits during production, adapting to various environments and conditions.

Quality Control:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of edited footage to ensure it meets the highest quality standards and is free of errors or inconsistencies.
  • Implement and follow quality control procedures to ensure that the final product is polished and ready for distribution.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the director and production team to incorporate feedback and make revisions as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to address any issues or changes during the editing process.

Project Management:

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Organize and archive all editing files and project assets for future reference and revisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Television, Media Production, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a Picture Editor with a strong portfolio showcasing previous work.
  • Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, or equivalent.
  • Experience with color correction, sound editing, and visual effects.
  • Strong understanding of storytelling, pacing, and visual composition.

Equipment Requirements:

  • Must have personal editing equipment, including a desktop computer and/or laptop with the latest editing software.
  • The ability to use a portable editing station for quick on-site edits during production is highly desirable.

Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with additional post-production tools and software, such as After Effects or DaVinci Resolve.
  • Experience in various types of media projects, including film, television, and digital content.
