  • Location: Remote and On-Site [50% – 70% Travel]

  • Reports To: Director / Production Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly organized and motivated Assistant Director (AD) to join our production team. The Assistant Director will support the Director in coordinating the various aspects of film and television production, ensuring that all elements run smoothly and efficiently. This role requires strong leadership, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Coordination:

  • Assist the Director in planning and organizing the production schedule, including daily call sheets and shooting schedules.
  • Coordinate and oversee the daily operations on set, ensuring that all departments adhere to the schedule and production requirements.
  • Manage communication between departments to facilitate smooth workflow and address any issues that arise during production.

Team Management:

  • Supervise and support the cast and crew, ensuring that everyone understands their roles and responsibilities.
  • Conduct pre-production meetings and briefings with the team to outline the day’s objectives and expectations.
  • Facilitate the smooth transition between scenes, managing the set to keep activities on schedule.

Script and Scene Management:

  • Ensure that all script changes and revisions are communicated to the cast and crew in a timely manner.
  • Monitor the progress of scenes, making adjustments as needed to stay on schedule and maintain the director’s vision.
  • Oversee the execution of shots, ensuring that they meet the director’s specifications and quality standards.

On-Set and Post-Production Support:

  • Apply touch-ups and make adjustments to makeup and effects during shooting to ensure continuity and accuracy.
  • Address any on-set issues promptly, making quick fixes or adjustments as needed to maintain the desired appearance.
  • Collaborate with the post-production team to address any additional needs related to visual effects or color correction.

Scheduling and Logistics:

  • Create and maintain detailed shooting schedules, including call times, location details, and any special requirements for each scene.
  • Coordinate logistics for location shoots, including permits, transportation, and equipment setup.
  • Manage the schedule for cast and crew, including breaks and turnaround times, to ensure compliance with labor regulations and maintain productivity.

Problem-Solving and Adaptability:

  • Address and resolve any issues or delays that occur during production, finding effective solutions to keep the project on track.
  • Adapt to changes in the production schedule or script, making necessary adjustments to ensure continuity and efficiency.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed on set, maintaining a safe working environment for cast and crew.
  • Address any safety concerns or hazards promptly and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Assistant Director or in a similar production management role, with a strong understanding of film and television production processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and manage a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software and production management tools.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to film and television production.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with different genres of production, including drama, comedy, and reality TV.
  • Familiarity with scriptwriting and storyboarding.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
