Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Camera Operator to join our production team. The Camera Operator will be responsible for capturing high-quality footage for various projects, including film, television, and live events. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic production environment. This position offers the opportunity for rapid career progression to a Director of Photography role, contingent upon demonstrating advanced competency and performance on productions.

Key Responsibilities:

Camera Operation:

  • Set up and operate camera equipment to capture high-quality video footage according to the director’s vision and production requirements.
  • Adjust camera settings, such as focus, exposure, and white balance, to achieve the desired visual effect.
  • Execute smooth and precise camera movements, including pans, tilts, and tracking shots.

Equipment Management:

  • Prepare and maintain camera equipment, including lenses, tripods, and rigs, ensuring that all gear is in good working condition.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues with the camera equipment during production.
  • Collaborate with the camera crew to set up and dismantle equipment as needed.

Footage Quality:

  • Monitor and review footage to ensure it meets the required quality standards and aligns with the project’s vision.
  • Make adjustments as necessary to improve the quality and composition of the footage.
  • Ensure that all footage is recorded and stored properly for post-production.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the Director of Photography, director, and other crew members to understand and execute the visual style and requirements of the project.
  • Communicate effectively with the production team to ensure that all camera-related needs and adjustments are addressed promptly.
  • Follow directions and adapt to changes during production to meet the creative and technical demands of the project.

Safety and Efficiency:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment on set.
  • Efficiently manage time and resources to meet production deadlines and maintain workflow efficiency.

Career Advancement:

This position provides the potential for rapid advancement to a Director of Photography role. Promotion to this position is contingent upon demonstrating advanced competency and exceptional performance in capturing and delivering high-quality footage across productions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Film, Television, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a Camera Operator or in a similar role, with a strong portfolio or reel showcasing your work.
  • Proficiency in operating various camera equipment and understanding of camera settings and techniques.
  • Strong visual and artistic skills with a keen eye for composition and detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow instructions and adapt to feedback.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with advanced camera systems and accessories.
  • Knowledge of lighting techniques and their impact on camera work.
  • Familiarity with editing software and post-production processes.
